The CoolDrivePass concept was created to identify and support practical market based solutions for combating global warming by contributing to the development of high quality offset projects. Our projects meet and exceed international standards. Furthermore, they have to satisfy our own criteria overseen by our team of scientists which focus on the projects' economic, ecological, and social impacts as well as the proficiency of our project partners. This approach ensures long-term, comprehensive sustainable development

• More than 80%* (expected to rise to more than 90% next year) of our current international investments and all our Canadian projects are in renewable energy and energy efficiency projects. These are carbon reduction projects, reducing the amount of CO2 being released into the atmosphere.
• The "Additionality" of projects is a vital criterion for our projects that ensures real greenhouse gas reductions. This principle requires a verifiable demonstration or proof that a project is something over and above the “business as usual” case and would not have been developed if it were not for its greenhouse gas mitigation benefits.
• Furthermore, we look for projects that not only offer solutions to the climate change challenge, but also provide social benefits in our communities.  Your investments will therefore not only help us mitigate climate change, but also put our communities on a more sustainable footing.
• Reliable local partners are of crucial importance for the implementation of our climate protection projects. They must be able to implement and maintain the projects with adequate scientific, organizational, and economical competence

Our International projects are currently provided in close collaboration with ClimateCare one of the leaders in providing high quality offset projects in the developing world and we source our local projects together with Offsetters Climate Neutral Society, a BC based not-for-profit organization focused on providing sustainable high quality carbon offsets.

Our technology projects invest in sustainable energy or energy efficiency. These projects not only remove greenhouse gases from the atmosphere, they also enhance ecosystems and provide wider benefits to the people living around them.

• Installing efficient lighting for schools in Kazakhstan and in households in South Africa
• Biogass Digesters to save the tigers' habitat in India
• Efficient cooking stoves in Bangladesh and Madagascar

We are in the process of finalizing the development of a high quality local project that will use a wide range of environmental technologies to provide real and measurable sustainability benefits to low and mid income families in addition to significant long-term greenhouse gas reductions. * The only "carbon sequestration" project that we invest in is a rainforest restoration project in Uganda. For this project CO2 sequestration rates are calculated by SGS Forestry and the project has attained certification from the Forest Stewardship Council. Progress is monitored by FACE Foundation. Future investments will only be on "carbon reduction" projects.
